It’s now official: the 2026 Tour de France will return to the legendary Alpe d’Huez with two consecutive stage finishes, just before the grand finale in Paris. The announcement was confirmed today, October 23 2025, during the official route presentation in Paris.

Before reaching the French capital, the riders will face one last colossal challenge. After 18 days of racing, the peloton will tackle a double mountain showdown at Alpe d’Huez, the most iconic climb in Tour de France history.
According to the official route unveiled by France Info, the 19th stage will end at the summit of Alpe d’Huez after 128 km of racing and the famous 21 hairpins that lead up to the resort. The following day, the queen stage of the 2026 edition will feature a brutal 5 600 m of elevation gain, including the climbs of Croix de Fer (24 km at 5.2 %), Télégraphe (11.9 km at 7.1 %), and Galibier (17.7 km at 6.9 %), before an unprecedented ascent via the Col de Sarenne (12.3 km at 7.3 %).
